Department of Social Services

The Department of Social Support deals with the intervention and support of the patients requiring rehabilitation, as well as their families. It is staffed by a Social Service Officer, who undertakes the role of advising on social benefits and to inform the patients themselves and their relatives about the structures provided by the social services, so that these people can face their disability and become active members of the society.

The social service officer takes care of the prevention and resolution of the problems that may arise during long-term patient hospitalization in various hospitals. The officer’s role is to inform the patient and his/her family about his/her rights and the coverage provided by the insurance company, the well-fare benefits to which he/she is entitled and the supporting documents required. The officer also provides the patient with information about the supply of special therapeutic means, such as trolleys, narthexes, guardians, etc.

The social service officer is characterized by patience and persistence, objectivity and impartiality, responsibility, conscience and love for people, and his/her ultimate goal is the smooth recovery of the patient from his/her condition and the reintegration into the social and working environment.
